Easy As 1,2,3. You can start today!

Here is what we do in our household. A word regarding bottled water. We encourage using tap water in glasses/cups inside the home and reusable water bottles outside. 1) We have a separate waste basket under the sink for cans/plastic bottles, rinse prior to depositing them. 2) We use a brown paper yard waste bag in the garage for storage until 3) We go to the Metro North Recycling Center (North of the Mall) to "dump" and bring home bag to reuse. Center hours are: W/TH/F 11 to 5:30 and Sat 8-4. Cans and plastic bottles do not have to be separated. For more info call 816 561-1090. Questions?

Folks,

Our family agrees that Recycling is very good for both our community and helps the big picture. Do you know that Pine Ridge Pres Church will take Newsprint and Alum cans?? The drop off spot is on the north side of the Church. By no means is this a place for all Recyclables, but it can relieve some stress in the Garage. We usually make two stops at the Church and then one to Metro North Mall for glass, boxes and Plastics. The Church is just across the street from Park Hill High School on Barry Road.

Best to all,
Brian Stevenson

Hey Mike,

We are all up to recycling. Our community of Weatherby Lake needs to start recycling.

After living in several other states, I find that living at WL is a sad state of affairs related to recycling. We had it and stopped because people did not get it and so it was stopped. Our lake depends on being green, just look at U-cove on any rainy day, not only is there MUD, but there are bottles and cans and fast food wrappers. We are fools here living in a fairy tale world. Wake up folks, 5 years is a long time but enough time for the fish to die, for you to think developmemnt will not really hurt, and for our lake ecology to be doomed. To me, time is short, start now, go green!

Louise, this is a grass roots campaign that needs to start one family at a time. I am beginning with friends and neighbors, I invite everyone who is recycling to do the same. We'll try to enlist the backing of clubs and social groups, WLIC and the City. I believe we can get curbside back, it will be a matter of generating demand. Won't happen overnight, but it will happen.
